Top Three Faculty Paper Award

Our paper “The Ethics Gap. Why Germans Have Little Esteem and No Trust in Journalists” (Donsbach, Rentsch & Mende) has been selected as one of the top three faculty papers in the Journalism Studies Division of ICA.  We will receive the award at the division’s business meeting on May 24 during the ICA conference in Chicago.

New Research Grant

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (equivalent to the NSF in the USA) has just granted to me a study on ‘news exposure and news knowledge of young people’.  The study will investigate what news the citizens have been exposed to, where they got it from and what they remember of it. The questionnaire will be adjusted on a daily basis by an expert panel that decides upon the three most important issues of the day. The surveys are amended by quantitative content analyses of the news media used by the recipients. The study has a special focus on news exposure and political knowledge of the younger generation and the role of the internet in comparison to traditional media. Some parts of the research is designed after a study “Young People and the News” by Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy.

Carnegie-Knight Report is now out
